About the Role

 

The Regional Work, Health and Safety Officer plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems, processes, policies, legislation, frameworks, and initiatives at the Aged Care Centre (ACC) level.

 

This is a part-time role, requiring 4 days a week, based at our Aged Care Centres in Shoalhaven, NSW.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

 

  • Promoting a positive safety culture by taking a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to safety and risk-reduction across the ACC division
  • Supporting the ACC in achieving safety targets through the timely delivery of accurate safety advice, incident investigations, inspections, and performance reporting
  • Collaborating with IRT’s WHS team to implement, maintain, and monitor WHS plans, policies, procedures, systems, frameworks, and inductions within ACC to achieve strategic objectives
  • Assisting ACC leaders with consultation on WHS matters, including coordinating WHS committee meetings, toolbox talks, knowledge sharing, training, risk assessments, and return-to-work meetings (initial and subsequent GP/Medical Consultations involving team members)
  • Supporting the delivery of WHS compliance tasks as part of the WHS management system
  • Attending monthly site audits, Protecht audits, and safety engagements
  • Effectively consulting with key stakeholders to develop practical solutions supported by education and training
  • Reporting monthly to the Business Manager on hazard and incident trends, including those that remain open and require action, and workers' compensation claims
  • Analyzing WHS statistics to identify negative trends and contributing to strategies aimed at improving performance

 

To Be Successful You Will Have

 

  • Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
  • Incident Investigation trained 
  • Return-To-Work Coordinator accreditation
  • Fire Officer accreditation
  • Proven experience in a similar WHS or Human Resources generalist role
  • Proven ability to identify, analyse and report on risks and data as well as develop effective and efficient strategies to manage risks and improve performance
  • High level communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to maintain confidential information in a professional and discrete manner
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and understanding importance of Safety KPI’s
  • Ability to execute and monitor Company risk and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures and ensure they are operating within the work environment
  • Current Class C Drivers License with an ability to travel to IRT operating regions as required (NSW, ACT, QLD)
