About the Role

The Regional Work, Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Work Health and Safety systems, processes, policy, legislation, frameworks and initiatives at an Aged Care Centre level. 

 

The successful applicant will work Part time 3 days a week across to work at IRT Aged Care Centres in Dalmeny, Moruya and Batemans Bay. 

 

This role is also responsible for: 

  • Provide advice and support to Management, central WHS and operational teams to ensure compliance with current legislation and achieve safety targets (KPIs)
  • Coordinate investigation of incidents, near misses and unsafe work practices
  • Coordinate and complete risk assessments
  • Deliver safety engagements, Toolbox Talks and other safety and wellbeing initiatives
  • Ensure hazards identified, reported and corrective actions are completed
  • Coordinate and support the Regional WHS Committee by facilitating meetings, fostering participation and regular communication with Committee members 
  • Undertake the function of the RTW Coordinator and monitor injured workers through the RTW process with support of the central Injury Management team
  • Complete monthly reports with insights and analysis
  • Keep up to date with changes in Work Health and Safety legislation

 

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Previous demonstrated experience in a similar role (within the Aged Care Industry highly regarded) 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety 
  • Be an accredited Return to Work Coordinator
  • Current Class C Drivers License with an ability to travel to IRT operating regions as required (NSW, ACT, QLD)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures and ensure they are operating within the work environment
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • High level communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to maintain confidential information in a professional and discrete manner
  • Be solution-focused with a genuine passion for workplace safety
