Facilities Maintenance Officer

Classification: Full Time, 38 hours per week

The role of the Maintenance Officer/handyman involves general day-to-day repairs and maintenance of IRT’s properties and facilities. The position will require experience in maintenance and handyman duties as well as a commitment to deliver a high standard of service within the guidelines of IRT’s policies and procedures and work closely with administration staff to provide safe, clean and well maintained facilities for the residents who reside at IRT Lifestyle Villages and Aged Care properties. The position is also responsible for transporting residents and items throughout the facility and providing assistance to Care staff and residents in a clinical setting as required.

 

 

About the Role:

You will report to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator and be across our IRT Sydney sites at Kirrawee, Berala, Peakhurst and Sans Souci. 

 

To be successful you will:

 

  • Have practical knowledge of general maintenance, carpentry, cleaning, general building maintenance
  • Be able to carry out safe working practices with minimum of supervision
  • Hold a current drivers licence
  • Be organised, self-motivated and flexible
  • Commit to excellent customer service
  • Have a courteous and friendly manner
  • Have basic computer skills including CMMS systems, MS office suite
  • Be able to meet the physical demands of the position as listed in the job specific responsibilities section
  • Have a willingness to work flexible hours and rotating rosters, including afternoon/weekend shifts and after hour emergency call outs and public holidays
  • Have a willingness to travel to cover all IRT facilities
  • Have a level of physical fitness deemed appropriate by independent medical advisors to safely perform the requirements of the job (a pre-employment medical is company policy to assess suitability)
  • Have good administration skills including the use of computer systems and software.
  • The ability to work in high volume environment whilst managing multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines
  • Have knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
