About the Role

The Regional Work, Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Work Health and Safety systems, processes, policy, legislation, frameworks and initiatives at an Aged Care Centre level. 

 

This role is also responsible for: 

  • Contribute to and promote a positive safety culture demonstrating a pragmatic, solutions focused approach to safety and risk-reduction measures throughout the ACC division
  • Support ACC to achieve safety targets through the delivery of timely, accurate safety advice, incident investigation and inspection processes as well as performance reporting
  • Working closely with IRT’s WHS team, implement, maintain and monitor WHS plans, policy, procedures, systems and frameworks, inductions within ACC to achieve strategic objectives
  • Assist ACC leaders with consultation on WHS matters, including coordination of WHS  committee meetings, tool box talks, knowledge sharing and training, risk assessments, return to work meetings (initial and subsequent GP/Medical Consults involving team members) etc
  • Support the delivery of WHS compliance tasks as part of the WHS management system
  • Attend monthly site audits, Protecht audits and safety engagements
  • Consult effectively with key stakeholders to develop practical solutions supported by  education and training
  • Report monthly to the Business Manager:
  • Hazard and incident trends including those remaining open and requiring action
  • Workers Compensation open claims 
  • Analyze WHS statistics to identify negative trends and contribute to strategies to improve  performance

 

The successful applicant will work across our Aged Care Centres in Auburn, Peakhurst, Macarthur, Kirrawee and Sans Souci. 

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
  • Incident Investigation trained 
  • Return-To-Work Coordinator accreditation
  • Fire Officer accreditation
  • Proven experience in a similar WHS or Human Resources generalist role
  • Proven ability to identify, analyse and report on risks and data as well as develop effective and efficient strategies to manage risks and improve performance
  • High level communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to maintain confidential information in a professional and discrete manner
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and understanding importance of Safety KPI’s
  • Ability to execute and monitor Company risk and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures and ensure they are operating within the work environment
  • Current Class C Drivers License with an ability to travel to IRT operating regions as required (NSW, ACT, QLD)
