About the Role
IRT Registered Nurse Graduate Program
Location: IRT Aged Care Centres
Applications close: Sunday 26 October 2025
IRT is pleased to offer graduate registered nurse positions commencing in February 2026.
The IRT Graduate Registered Nurse Program is designed to consolidate clinical nursing and personal care skills whilst preparing the graduate for a career in aged care. This program recognises the graduate’s talents and interests and is the perfect opportunity for an individual whose aspirations are more than just ‘getting a job’.
A graduate nurse at IRT is required to attend graduate nurse specific induction. The graduate is then assigned to a host care centre/s to develop their clinical practice supported by a clinical nurse (Clinical Preceptor). In addition, regular meetings with the clinical practice development team including the Care Manger, Clinical Nurse Educator and the Senior Clinical Nurse Educator will ensure the graduate’s development is closely monitored and supported all the way. Focussed workshop days throughout the graduate year complement and re-inforce clinical and communication topics introduced during the induction.
Our graduate nurse education is built around a gerontological nursing skills framework to develop the graduate’s understanding of nursing in the context of aged care. The graduate nurse will also participate in IRT staff education and complete training as scheduled in the IRT Learning Calendar. A library of IRT AusMed online learning modules and access to the Lippincott Procedures portfolio across a large number of topics is available to satisfy specific interests and assessed learning needs.
