About the Role

Are you looking for an exciting Chef position with family friendly hours in addition to a monthly RDO? Working on rotating shifts across Monday to Friday between 8:30am to 5pm.


IRT Catering is seeking to appoint a passionate and qualified Chef to join the team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Head Production Chef, you will assist in the smooth and efficient operation of the Production and Distribution areas of the Catering Services Centre through the effective supervision and utilisation of staff and resources.

As our Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation and production of high quality foods while following HACCP guidelines. Based in our Catering Services Centre, you’ll work with the team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of production and distribution of meals to our IRT locations. You’ll use your leadership skills to provide direction and support to other kitchen staff in adhering to safety policies, procedures and guidelines in maintaining a clean and hygienic workplace.

 

Your duties may include:

  • Responsible for operating complex food equipment and systems such as Kettle – Pump/Emulsifier – Propac System
  • To assist in the smooth and efficient operation of the Production and Distribution areas of the
    Catering Services Centre, through the effective supervision and utilisation of staff and
    resources
  • Preparing food stuffs for cooking
  • Preparing meats for cooking and some basic butchery
  • Use of standard recipes
  • Ordering of supplies required to meet standard recipes
  • Use of various kitchen equipment and tools
  • Identify nonconforming ingredients and advising management
  • Undertake production of high-quality food products
  • Working in accordance with Pure Food Act and ANZFA guideline

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Previous industry experience of 500 hours or more
  • Qualifications in cookery e.g.; TAFE/Chef, certificate of proficiency in commercial cookery or
    equivalent
  • Previous experience in bulk cooking
  • Demonstrated team leadership
  • Self-motivated
  • Demonstrated understanding of current relevant legislation and food handling guidelines
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Motor vehicle driver’s licence
  • Capable of hands-on problem solving, with the ability to generate new ideas and solutions
  • Ability to engender trust, respect and buy-in at all levels of the organisation
  • Personal values of integrity, authenticity and transparency.
