About the Role

Head of Business Transformation

Shape the future of how IRT works

IRT is looking for a Head of Business Transformation to lead practical, organisation-wide improvement across our operations, systems, processes and ways of working.

This is a newly created, CEO-sponsored role with the opportunity to make a real impact. You will help identify where things are complex, duplicated or not working as well as they should — then lead the work to simplify, improve and embed better ways of working across IRT.

This is not a traditional PMO role. It is a hands-on transformation and improvement role focused on practical outcomes, measurable benefits and sustainable change.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will establish business process improvement functions and lead business initiatives across IRT to improve operational efficiency, workforce effectiveness, financial sustainability and customer outcomes.

You will work closely with Executive leaders, operational teams, Finance, Technology, Data, People & Culture and frontline employees to understand business challenges, redesign processes and support the implementation of sustainable improvements.

Your work may include improvement activity across workforce optimisation, rostering, payroll, care minutes, home care readiness, finance processes, customer operations, admissions, onboarding and technology-enabled improvement.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end business process improvement initiatives across priority areas
  • Identify inefficiencies, duplication, process gaps and service delivery barriers
  • Work with leaders and frontline teams to map, redesign and improve processes
  • Prioritise improvement opportunities based on impact, risk, complexity and business need
  • Establish success measures, baseline data and benefits tracking
  • Partner with Finance and operational leaders to validate financial, workforce and operational benefits
  • Provide clear updates to the CEO and Executive leaders on progress, risks and outcomes
  • Help build a practical culture of continuous improvement across IRT

About you

You are a practical and commercially minded transformation leader who knows how to turn ideas into action.

You are comfortable working in complex environments where priorities compete, processes cross multiple teams and the answer is not always obvious. You can see the bigger picture, but you are equally willing to get into the detail, work alongside teams and understand how things really operate.

You bring structure and discipline without overcomplicating things. You build trust quickly, communicate clearly and know how to influence senior leaders and frontline teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in business improvement, transformation or process redesign
  • Experience leading improvement work from diagnosis through to implementation and benefits realisation
  • Strong commercial, operational and analytical capability
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Experience embedding sustainable change in complex environments
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Operational Excellence or Business Process Improvement
  • Strong communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in aged care, health, community services or another highly regulated, workforce-intensive environment would be highly regarded

Why join IRT?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created role where you can shape how business transformation is delivered across a large, purpose-led organisation.

At IRT, transformation is not just about systems, structures or savings. It is about making it easier for our people to do great work and helping us deliver better outcomes for older Australians.

If you are a hands-on transformation leader who can simplify complexity, influence at all levels and turn improvement opportunities into real outcomes, we would love to hear from you.
